Fast Track Admissions for Part-time Graduate Students

The School of Engineering & Applied Science recognizes the challenges facing adults today as they endeavor to continue their education in graduate programs while still meeting the responsibilities of work and family. In our efforts to respond to these challenges we have developed a admission process that we call "fast track."

What is Fast Track Admission?

"Fast Track" admission is a conditional admission. The student must meet the following criteria before full admission can be awarded:

  1. During the first semester of attendance the student must submit official transcripts of all undergraduate or previous graduate work.
  2. The student must obtain a "B" or better in his or her first three courses.
Failure to comply with either stipulation of the admission can prevent you from being allowed further enrollment in classes. Also, "fast track" admission is only open to graduate students applying for master's level work since this program is for part-time students only. Doctoral degree students are always considered full-time students.

Applying for Fast Track Admission

  1. Proceed to our website http://engineering.wustl.edu/GraduateAdmissions/ and complete the online application. Because this is a conditional admission procedure, you are not required to complete the pages on references or GRE test scores. Under "Additional Information," please indicate that you are applying for "fast track" admission.

  2. Arrange for an interview with a professor in the desired department. It is during this interview that you and the professor will decide if this is the correct program for you and if you possess the necessary undergraduate work to be successful in the program. Prerequisites may be required if the professor feels that these courses would be necessary to ensure that you can successfully complete the program. If you have copies of your transcripts, it would be helpful to bring them to this interview.

  3. If the professor agrees that you can be admitted under the "fast track" admission procedure, then you proceed to enrolling in classes. The graduate school has a continuous enrollment policy, which is explained on the application.
