Aerosol Science & Technology
The School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering. Endowed professorial appointments and appointments at the Associate Professor or Full Professor levels are available for exceptional applicants. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in all areas related to Aerosol Science & Technology.
Related strengths in the department are material synthesis via aerosol routes, flame and furnace processes, particle instrumentation and characterization, spray techniques, particle filtration and separation, indoor air quality, regional air pollution, and long-range aerosol transport monitoring. Individuals should demonstrate or show promise of excellence in both research and teaching.
Candidates are sought with research interests that complement existing strengths in departmental core areas. Candidates with an interest in teaching modern laboratory classes in chemical engineering will be considered favorably. The successful candidate should have an earned Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related discipline at the time of appointment. The selected candidate is expected to build an externally-supported research program, teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level, and contribute to interdisciplinary interactions among departments throughout the university in research related to energy and the environment.

Joint appointments with other School of Engineering and Washington University departments are also possible. We seek candidates who have expertise in environmental biotechnology, environmental transport processes, or environmental organic chemistry and who demonstrate or show promise of excellence in both teaching and research. Candidates are sought with research interests that complement existing strengths in departmental core areas of Engineered Aquatic Processes and Systems Biology and Metabolic Engineering.
