Research
Jin-Yu Shao works to develop new techniques in cellular and molecular engineering, especially in biomechanics and protein-protein interactions. The Micropipette Aspiration Technique (MAT) developed by his group has the unique capability of applying femtonewton- to nononewton-level forces to single proteins and cells. He also works to further understand infectious and inflammatory diseases by combining theoretical modeling and experimental approaches.
Biography
Prior to joining the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis in 1998, Professor Shao was an assistant research professor at Duke University. Professor Shao is a member of the Biophysical Society.
