Before Richard Zernickow started work full-time at Boston Scientific, he spent the summer leading high school students on service learning adventures through The Road Less Traveled youth education program.

"I chose Washington University Engineering for its balance of strong academics and friendly people," said Richard. "I was not disappointed."
As an undergraduate student in the School of Engineering, Richard worked with a team to create a system for monitoring the health of victims in a mass casualty incident, such as a tsunami or terrorist attack. "Designing a novel, feasible device that could save lives gave me confidence as an engineer and satisfaction as a humanitarian," he said.
